Termomecanica and the Salvador Arena Foundation

Production is much more than just profit.

Termomecanica is a private company controlled by the Salvador Arena Foundation (FSA). In his will of 1991, Termomecanica’s founder, Engineer Salvador Arena, set up the Foundation as the sole heir of his entire estate, and appointed people he trusted as members of the Board of Trustees, which would subsequently take over management of the company.

The Salvador Arena Foundation is thus the controlling and sole shareholder of Termomecanica, which gives it a unique status in the corporate scene, going against the current practice. Its business activities become the means, and its social programs and projects are its true, legitimate ends, its raison d’être.

Since social issues involving the community are handled directly by the Salvador Arena Foundation, through its education, healthcare and social welfare projects, Termomecanica’s role is to care for other aspects of sustainability, such as:

Social management of its internal stakeholders, including such aspects as human rights, health, safety, inclusion, sex equality, training and development;
Management of its value chain, in relation to social and environmental issues;
Management of Environmental Affairs, which covers aspects such as: control of atmospheric emissions, the production and disposal of waste, and the use of natural resources;
Governance, Ethics, Vision and Strategy.

The result of all these efforts can be seen in the Balance Sheet, which has been published since 2006.
